  • Interventional Medicine

Interventional Medicine aims to pinpoint the problem inside the body and deliver ingenious treatments exactly where they’re needed most. This is a fast-growing area of medicine driven by demand for better treatments and outcomes, by advances in imaging techniques and by product innovation. Our growing portfolio of Interventional Medicine products is designed to advance the treatment of cancer, vascular conditions and severe emphysema. 


  • Interventional Oncology


    Our Interventional Oncology products are used in minimally invasive procedures to treat or provide symptomatic relief for people with cancer and benign tumours, targeting diseased cells while decreasing the impact on healthy tissue. Our bead products block arteries (embolisation) that feed liver and other hypervascularised tumours, depriving them of blood and nutrients. Where approved, our drug-eluting beads also deliver a chemotherapeutic drug directly to the tumour. Our radiotherapy product consists of millions of small glass microspheres that deliver radiation directly to liver tumours. Our market-leading cryoablation solutions use ultra-thin needles cooled to extremely low temperatures to freeze and destroy diseased cells in bone and soft tissue, kidney, liver, lung and prostate. Cryoablation for treating pain can be an effective way to manage painful conditions and provide palliative care.

  • Interventional Pulmonology


    Our Interventional Pulmonology product, CE Mark certified in Europe and being studied in US clinical trials, is a minimally invasive device intended to improve quality of life, lung function and exercise capacity in patients with heterogeneous and/or homogeneous emphysema. Emphysema is characterised by damage to the air sacs (alveoli) of the lungs and increased lung volume, which make breathing difficult. There is no cure.


  • Interventional Vascular


    Our Interventional Vascular products are used in the treatment of varicose veins and in the treatment of severe blood clots. We have developed an injectable microfoam for the treatment of patients with varicose veins. We also provide a family of ultrasonic devices used to help dissolve blood clots and restore blood flow in patients with pulmonary emboli, deep vein thrombosis, and peripheral arterial occlusions.
